This is nothing more than blatant advertising for Julia Lawrinson’s latest, Losing It.
Which is amazing.
To avoid Losing It in the bushes with some random guy in a heavy-metal T-shirt after too many tequila shots, four best friends make a bet: to lose it before schoolies week – and preferably in a romantic, sober way that they won’t regret.
What follows is a sometimes funny, sometimes awkward, but always compelling comedy of errors as Abby, Mala, Bree and Zoe each try to find their Mr Right . . . or at least get laid.
A hilarious and thought-provoking novel by the award-winning author of Bye, Beautiful and The Push.
I’m not reviewing it, and I’m kind of glad, as I don’t think that going OMG THIS IS AMAZING would constitute as a good review.
I read it in days, and finished the last quarter yesterday, sitting in my car, eyes darting across the page, when I really should have been driving somewhere. Instead, I was late, but that was okay as I finish it.
The writing was flawless. You’d think it was lifted directly out of a teen girl’s diary, and sprinkled with that Julia loveliness. That Julia writing, I can’t even begin to properly describe it or do it justice. I say it was like it was lifted from a diary, because everything was so real and truthful. But you could tell how hard she worked on it. The plot itself: fantastic, a great premise (the bet) and then the ensuring activities.
There’s really nothing more I can say about it.
Except buy it; buy it for every teenage girl you know (so she knows she’s not alone), for every teenage boy you know (so he can understand girls a little better). For every person you know, because it’s brilliant.
Julia, we, I, love you and we want your next one please!!

Wow, I am fascinated by this! I’m a Catholic, so I really believe that sex is very special, and should only happen with someone you really care very deeply about – and who cares that way for you, too. Obviously, I understand that everyone doesn’t feel this way!
So I’m intrigued by the idea of being out to lose your virginity in such a determined manner. I think I’ll have to grab this one and have a read.
Oh Jess you’re in for a rude shock!!! This book is intense and full-on – no sugar coating here!
