This arrived in the mail for me today:
It’s a first-edition Virginia Woolf My Moment. It is BEAUTIFUL.
It even came with some old newspaper clippings from the 1960′s which are articles about Woolf:
It’s pretty much the coolest thing ever. It has the yellowing paper, that delicious old-book smell.
It’s golden-embossed spine has ‘The Hogarth Press’ on it which is just fantastic, and I love love that it is a first edition.
As some of you may know, I collect Woolf like she’s going out of fashion. I have all her dairies, all her letters, all her books and essays, almost every biography written on her, and lots on other people in her life: Leonard Woolf, Vita Sackville-West.
I found this in a second-hand bookshop in Lorne (Fowlers, just a great store) when I went a few weeks ago. (Sadly, I was down to my last dollars and it was either eat or buy this book. I would have seriously purchased it but driving back to Melbourne through a storm with three people in the car without food? Probably not a great idea!)
It was in a glass cabinet and looked so pretty and inviting and awesome just sitting there and I knew before I even touched it I had to have it.
Collecting Woolf is like an addiction. I have more books on and about her than I know what to do with, but I can’t stop. I see one, I have to buy it.
Second-hand bookshops are truly treasure troves: you never know what you’ll find.

I couldn’t resist a local secondhand book stall on the weekend. Picked up signed copies of Rhyll McMaster’s The Feather Man and Elizabeth Stead’s The Fishcastle, neither of which I’ve read. More to go on my TBR pile.
