I’m very excited about my new desk.
The history:
I saw it walking home one day.
That’s right, I paid nothing! Hoorah!
However, the thing is huge. I knew there was no way I could carry it home myself.
So I left it there, on the side of the road, thinking, well, if it’s still there tomorrow I’ll ask someone to come and help me.
I forgot about it.
The day after that, I saw it again. Right, I thought. Must get onto that.
Luckily that afternoon I had a car. I drove up to it and parked.
Hmmm, I thought. No way that will fit in the car.
And so I left it and went on my way.
The next night, I corned my housemate. “Hey, want to come help and be so awesome and I’ll love you forever?” I asked, batting my eyelids.
He laughed. He’s gay.
And so we walked to the where the table was perched on the side of the road, hopeful for a home.
We carried it home. (It was an easier job than pushing home a couch on two skateboards, like my other housemate and I did (Yes we’re scavengers)).
We left it on the back porch as I hadn’t cleaned out my study yet.
That I did today, and this evening said housemate and I maneuvered it through the door and the laundry to finally put it in my study.
The thing is fricken huge.
Twice the size of my old, regular-size desk.
In fact, I don’t even think it’s a desk. More a table.
Yet I like the fact its so big as I love to spread out and have all my crap everywhere.
So here is it, all snugly fitted in my study:
Obviously I need a better chair (stole that from the kitchen so I could reach the higher shelves) and I need to file all the documents on the white desk (they were on the floor in the way, so I had to move them) but hey. I like it!
And I’m quite excited and inspired to continue to edit my novel as now I have tonnes of room to spread out.
Hoorah!
OH! Love the writing area! Mine is just my lab-top sitting with me on my oversized recliner! lol! It's so comfy though!
Ohhhh, it's so roomy – I'm jealous Megs! My own desk is also quite large, though I have an old computer/printer and a lot of other junk taking up precious space (seriously, before I can write I have to push piles of crap onto the floor each time argh!). You've definitely inspired me to give it a clean-up (I want lots of space like yours!)
What an awesome find too – I love hard-rubbish days!
